Sci Vee: web video and science publications

Sci Vee allows scientists to upload an audio or video file and synchronise it to their paper. It can be used by scientists to summarise their research and may turn to a useful way of encouraging discussion about a publication and of raising awareness of its contents. For example, see Jenny Gu explaining her paper on Wiggle—Predicting Functionally Flexible Regions from Primary Sequence.

Sci Vee only allows you to upload synchronise audio and video with papers published in open access journals.

Find out more about Sci Vee at Slashdot.

A Wiki is a collaborative web site that anyone with access to it can edit but this really doesn't really explain how useful Wiki's are. Common Craft have created a short video to introduce Wikis and what they can do and, in their words, to inspire someone to create the next Wikipedia.

Calculate your h-index with Scopus

The h-index is used to quantify scientific productivity of scientists. It is based on the number of papers published by the scientist and on how often these papers are cited in papers written by other scientists.

The h-index is built into Scopus as to facilitate the evaluation of research performance. The information provided includes unique graphs that enable scientists to interpret the value of the h-index by displaying publication and citation trends over time.

To find out how to use the h-index in Scopus watch this video
